A few little steps to create a nicely styled table when your friends pop around. I don’t do this often enough but when I do I love to set the table nicely if I’m having friends over for tea/coffee, cake & a catch up. It really takes very little effort but here are my tips for styling the table. A few essentials are a neutral tablecloth and classic, timeless crockery & cutlery. First is to start with a pretty tablecloth or a runner. I love this linen polka dot runner – go for a nice neutral colour and a timeless pattern. I chose this because of the linen trim at either end for a little twist of vintage. Next of course is beautiful crockery & cutlery. This range that I just got in store recently from a Danish company works perfectly because it’s a simple white range with a beautifully scalloped edge around the teacup, saucer & side plate. The cutlery I felt would work really well with the linen tablecloth as I think it also has a vintage feel to it. It’s so worth investing in some classic pieces that will be timeless and then chop and change the more inexpensive pieces like candle holders & vases.
