Don’t we all have an old gold mirror lurking in the back of a cupboard or in the attic? If like me your not a fan of the gold look (at least not right now but that could change as the trends change). Or if you come across one of these gold mirrors in a charity shop for like €2 and want to ‘make it your own’ well here’s a great little upcycle project.
1. Give the mirror a really good clean down with sugar soap and then wipe it down with a damp cloth.
3. Apply 3 coats of Autentico ‘Vintage’ Chalk Paint (we have these in 100ml pots for those smaller little projects). I always advise customers to ‘start with small projects’ and then progress on to the larger pieces of furniture. I used this beautiful shade of grey chalk paint called ‘Pigeon Grey’.
4. Pieces need to be sealed with a wax or varnish unless your using Eggshell paint (which has the sealant built into it and doesn’t need to be waxed or varnished).
5. Apply clear wax.
Stand back and admire your own customised, updated and transformed mirror.
