Until fairly recently I was absolutely definitely not a fan of gold, however, I’ve changed my tune and have fallen back in love with it. I’m working on a green colour scheme for a client for her living room and we have chosen to introduce elements of gold to create a beautiful space and with a little bit of a luxurious feel. The leading piece for this space began with the lush green velvet couch with the gold legs. A couch with legs gives a lighter, airier feel to your space rather than the chunky legs that go straight to the floor. It’s sooooo important to pick a piece of furniture that isn’t going to dominate the room. Size is really important and it needs to be in relation to the size of the room. Sometimes you’ll find one piece that you love and it could be a rug, a painting, a couch and this will determine the style and colour scheme for the rest of the room. When decorating a space pick up on the elements in the furniture to create a cohesive look and feel in a room e.g. the gold legs in the couch and teaming it with a set of gold and glass side tables for a look and feel that works well together.
In terms of wall colour painting all the walls in green would be overkill so I’m going with one feature wall of Farrow & Ball’s Treron and play it down on the other wall with a crisp fresh All White.
