I’m on a bit of a health(Yish) kick so this recipe varies slightly from my normal brown bread recipe but there’s only 1 small difference and that is that I reduced some of the flour and added Flax Seeds and popped Sesame Seeds on top. If you don’t like Flax Seeds then use 250g wheatmeal flour and 200g plain white flour. Although I’m on a health kick I am not a fan of low fat products (no room for this stuff in my home) so rather reduce the amount of full fat products or don’t use anything but this brown bread most definitely requires a delicious creamy full fat butter. Honestly Ireland has the best butter in the world. You know how when some Irish Mammies go on holidays they bring their Barrys Tea bags with them (I’m not one of those :)) but when I go on holidays to Norway I have to bring my own butter. With the greenest grassiest fields for the cows to graze on. There is NO other substitute for Irish Butter and Kerrygold is the one for me. Heart Kerrygold.
Our fabulous German friends ‘the Krauses’ came to town to visit and apparently loved my brown bread so Emma this recipe is for you x
