One of the many things I LOVE about Summer is the abundance of fresh flowers. I’m one of those people that always try to clip fresh flowers from the garden and create beautiful fresh bouquets for my home. It always amazes me though when people who have beautiful gardens with bucket loads of fresh flowers in their garden and never pick them for use in their own home? Why is this?
We were having friends over for a bbq so here’s a little bouquet I created for the centrepiece for the outside dining table.
Step 1 – Colour Choice
I wanted a little bit of contrast and also colours that would compliment each other so first think about what colours you want in your little fresh floral bouquet. So I went with white (because everything goes beautifully with white), pink (because it’s soft, delicate and feminine) and a bold splash of purple.
Step 2 – Trim the flowers
Rather than having the flowers at the same height I recommend clipping the flowers at different sizes. This gives you structure and different points of interest at different heights.
Step 3 – Find a suitable vase
When I say vase I mean it in the broadest sense of the word. It can be anything from a mason jar, jam jar to an old used candle holder – work with what you have.
So get out there, clip those flowers and create some beautiful floral bouquets for your home.
Makes a beautiful perfect centrepiece on your dining table.
I’d love to see your creations so please share them by posting them on our Facebook Page – here or mail me on info@islandliving.ie. Have a great day, Joanne xx
